SUBMISSIONS

• Unsolicited Nonfiction and General Inquiry Guidelines:
  • The Believer will consider unsolicited nonfiction manuscripts and pitches. Please do not send fiction.
  • Please include clips or a brief publication history.
  • Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, please allow up to three months for a reply to unsolicited manuscripts or queries.
  • General inquiries, along with query letters, essays, non-book reviews, etc., should be submitted through http://believermag.com/submissions
• Review submissions:
  • We will consider both pitches and completed reviews.
  • We review books of all types, as well as non-literary items with some interesting linguistic element. Timeliness is not a requirement.
  • Please include clips and a brief publication history.
  • Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, please allow up to three months for a reply to unsolicited manuscripts or queries.
  • Submissions should be submitted through http://believermag.com/submissions
• Poetry submissions:
  • We accept 3-5 previously unpublished poems per submission.
  • Please send each poem as an individual MS Word attachment, with your contact information at the top of each page.
  • Cover letters are optional.
  • Simultaneous submissions are fine, though we ask you let us know if a poem has been accepted elsewhere.
  • Submissions may be sent via email only, to poetry@believermag.com
• Illustrations submission Guidelines:
  • Submissions may be sent via email only, to jason@believermag.com
  • Black-and-white, or gray tones, work best.
  • Please give a previous issue or two a look to get a sense of the kinds of series we run. Email us an idea or two for a series you would like to submit. Please include two low-resolution jpegs as a sample, and if you have a website for your work, please include a link to it.
